Pandanus Basket

$120.00

DALUK POWER, Marlkawo Collection

Fibre Art by Kaye Namundja

Materials: Pandanus (Pandanus Spiralis) and Natural Dyes

Dimensions: Medium 20cm (W) x 15cm (H)

Edition: 01

This basket is a unique piece made by master weaver and renowned artist Kaye Namundja from natural, local materials sourced from the Gunbalanya area in West Arnhem. Weavers gather fresh young leaves from the pandanus palm using a handheld hooked stick, then strip and dry them. The pandanus is then boiled up on the campfire with local plant dyes.

The basket is woven from pandanus palm leaves, harvested by hand using a traditional hooked stick, then carefully stripped, dried, and dyed over a campfire with native plant dyes. The result is a richly textured and vibrantly coloured work of art that tells a unique and one off story of land, culture, and innovation.

Generally each artwork will be shipped in a protective package from Australia. Local and international shipping costs apply, please allow up to 7 days for dispatch. Pick-up is available by appointment only, please contact us directly at info@milamprojects.com
